THE ROUTE OF THE EEL-FISHERMEN (BIG SUP OR CANOE)

Starting from the Arbina dam, the highest tidal point for the waters of the Cantabrian Sea, this adventure takes you, by Big SUP or canoe, all the way downstream, following the River Butrón to the mouth of the estuary, through an area of special importance to the eel-fishers of Biscay.

As we travel down the river, we'll spot the places where the fishermen stake out the prized baby elvers, and enjoy the landscape as it unfolds around us on our way to the bay which unites Plentzia, Gorliz and Barrika, and where you will find recompense for your efforts in the many bars and restaurants.
